影片摘要 With the exception of humans, the Formosan Macaque is Taiwan’s only primate. They arrived from the Asian mainland during an Ice Age hundreds of thousands of years ago that lowered sea waters and opened a land bridge to the island. As temperatures and waters rose, ancestors of the Formosan Macaque were marooned. They evolved over time into a species that is today found only on Taiwan. While distributed throughout the island, from coastal flats to mountains over 3,000 meters high, the Formosan Macaque is most prevalent in low- to mid-altitude highlands. Increasing commercial development in these areas has severely impacted upon the natural habitat of the Formosan Macaque - threatening their long-term health and survival…….
