影片摘要 Called “living fossils”, horseshoe crabs have changed little in 200 million years. This primordial creature thrived along the sandy coastline of western Taiwan until fairly recently. Coastal development and the pervasive installation of cement wave breaks have since decimated these populations. Today, only the offshore Kinmen and Penghu Islands support significant numbers of horseshoe crabs. While occasional horseshoe crabs sightings are still made along the West Coast, the population pales in comparison to that on Kinmen. Horseshoe crabs have survived on Kinmen on land denied to man by war and conflict. Today, their very survival is threatened by peace and development. These guardians of the horseshoe crab may be unable to change human nature but they are passionate
